What is a good tribal or celtic symbol from Finland that would make a good tattoo, or from kaleavala?

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under celtic symbol | 1 Comment »

i am getting a tattoo next week and i need to know asap, i am looking for something similar to what finntroll uses….

I did a search to see what kind of tattoos they have and came up with very little so I don’t know if this is anything like it.
http://www.kalevalakoru.com/ makes jewellery and the ground of design is strongly based on Finnish and Scandinavian culture combining the historical heritage with modern life alike. Their homepage takes a little bit of fiddling to find good images.

The sun bird in here is interesting I think; http://nordicdesignblog.com/archives/519 This seems to be a version of Thor’s hammer http://www.kalevalakoru.fi/instancedata/kalevalakoru/productimages/original/211.jpg The ornaments of this bracelet could also be turned into a tattoo; http://www.kalevalakoru.com/jewelry/catalog/bracelets/351 A broach with another type of pattern; http://www.kalevalakoru.com/jewelry/catalog/brooches/287

Any ideas for a feminine celtic tattoo to put on the back of neck?

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under celtic tattoos | 2 Comments »

I’m looking for some ideas for celtic tattoos and want to put it right along the hairline on the back of my neck. I can’t really find any pictures or designs that show them on the back of girls’ neck. I’m not sure if I want a clover (seems so cliche or maybe I haven’t found the right style) or if I want a celtic knot. Any ideas??

Maybe some other type of flower, such as a thistle (nice purple and green). Or maybe create a trinity knot with roses or some other flowers? Just some thoughts…

what are the symbols for father, and son, in irish celtic or irish gaelic?

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under celtic symbols | 1 Comment »

My father has just recently passed away. I am looking to get a tattoo in memory of him. An idea i had was to get the symbol for father,a nd the symbold for son; and somehow link them together. Or if father and son was one symbol just use that. I am not sure if there is a celtic or gaelic symbol for what i want. If anyoen knows please tell me what you no, or if you no who to contact or where i could possibly get the information needed

I don’t know of any symbols for father or son in the Irish language. We have the words athair (father) or Daid (dad) and mac (son).
In the Ogham script which predated the Irish language as we have it today, you might like to spell out Dad. See this page for a diagram of the letters

http://www.celticgrounds.com/chapters/og…

Or go to http://cwva.org/wwvrunes/wwvrunes_3.html… scroll down the page to Fig.K. The top line of the illustration reads A – T- A -R M -C in Ogham scrpt, and means Father, Son. Perhaps you’d like this.

Or you could spell your Dad’s name (as spelt in Irish), using the Irish script which was in use when I was at school. See

Or how about a tattoo based on illustrations from the Book of Kells?
See one picture at http://www.isos.dias.ie/

Or you might find something suitable here

Celtic Art Question?

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under celtic art | 3 Comments »

Ok well I have this big report on Celtic Art due next week and I already did the internet presenting part of the project but now I have to write a report about Celtic art. The problem however is that I’m not clearly understanding the meaning behind this art and why it was created. Don’t give me any sarcastic remarks either such as "find this out yourself so you can get an education" because number one I researched a lot about it and I’m not completely understanding it and two is that I’m a 4.0 student and I hardly ever ask for help from people on the internet so I’m kind of desperate at the moment. Thanks to all who answer this in a helpful way! I owe you!
The paintings are what I dont really understand! :-) Sorry for not making that clear.

I have merely a "passing" knowledge of matters Celtic, and i am presuming you are intending a POV re the Pagan Period so to speak, rather than the "Christian" one.

In that case i would suggest the following: The Celts are a very "in tune " people. Well connected in the old days to the old ways and the Goddess, and to the faery, devic, magickal world. Many people who resonate with those connections and period are even currently producing art which reveals the important connection to "spirit" and the "etheric realms" which help to make a person "whole". One might call it art with a flair for the "fantastic" — otherworldly beings, and landscapes, archetypal people, and scenes, etc. The women in ancient garb, and the men often with a warrioresque or "merlinesque appearance".

It has been said that the Celts are descendants of the peoples of Atlantis, and carry within themselves unusual propensities and powers not necessarily as available to other cultures. :) )

How much is Celtic Football Club currently worth?

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under celtic football | 7 Comments »

if the club was up for sale tomorrow hypothetically speaking of course what would it fetch ..sensible answers please

Please see this link, for the most recent estimation, which comes from Forbes website, the list is from April this year, so is pretty up to date. http://www.forbes.com/lists/2009/34/soccer-values-09_Soccer-Team-Valuations_Rank.html

I think the list is testament to Celtic and Rangers, size and worth (if not our power and success), that they are they only entrants from out with the big 4 European Leagues and above all Dutch, Russian, South American and Portuguses teams and even then we are worth more than all Spanish Clubs apart from Real and Barcelona.

If only we could sell our Broadcast rights independently of the SPL, we would rise even further, it may be to the detrement of all other SPL teams though.

So going on current exchange rates we are worth an estimated £132M.

Is it weird for a Mexican person to wear a celtic cross?

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under celtic cross | 6 Comments »

I don’t want to make a big deal about race or anything, I just want to know whether is would be weird for a person of Mexican descent to wear a celtic cross pendant. I just really think that celtic crosses are very nice and ornate, so I would like to wear a necklace of a small celtic cross – nothing too big or flashy, but one that is a modest size

I dont see why it would be.

Where can I find a celtic knot bedding set?

Check in your area for shops that specialize in pagan products. They either will carry celtic designed items or know where to order from locally.

I included a few different sources that vary in prices.
